Founded in 1968 by Michael Harris, Mdina Glass emerged as Malta’s first and most iconic art glass studio. Drawing inspiration from the island’s coastal landscape, ancient stonework, and vibrant sunsets, the studio developed a distinct style defined by bold swirls, thick-walled forms, and oceanic hues.
Originally attracting top British glass artists, Mdina became a creative hub during the mid-century studio glass movement. Every piece was hand-blown using traditional techniques, often without molds — giving each vase, bowl, or paperweight a completely unique and organic quality.
Today, vintage Mdina glass is highly sought after by collectors for its authentic artistry, Mediterranean soul, and timeless sculptural presence.
